Biography
William Jeffrey (Jeff) Knight
MEC Jeff Knight was born in Chatham, Ontario, April 6, 1958. He graduated from Blenheim District High School in 1976 and joined the Canadian Army in September 1977 as a Weapons Technician (Land) in the Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. In 1992 Jeff was commissioned from the ranks as an Electrical Mechanical Engineering Officer, and completed his last years of service in uniform as the Officer Commanding RCEME Squadron at 4 Wing Cold Lake; retiring in 2005 after 28 years’ service. Jeff then accepted a position at 4 Wing Cold Lake under contract to the military. He provided training to Canada’s fighter force through instruction and operation of the CF-18 flight simulator. In August 2020 Jeff retired for the second time after 43 years of continuous service to the Department of National Defence.
MEC Knight is a third generation Mason. His decision to commit to the Masonic lifestyle began when he was initiated in Astra lodge No. 179 in October 2003. He was passed to a Fellowcraft and then Raised as a Master Mason in May 2004 with his father coming from Ontario to participate in the degree. Jeff progressed through the various chairs of the Lodge and has sat in the East as Worshipful Master during the 2008-09 and 2014-15 Masonic years. He was elected and installed as the Lakeland District Deputy Grand Master in 2018 and has sat on the Board of General Purposes, and the Jurisprudence Committee, of the Grand Lodge of Alberta. Jeff is currently the Secretary-Treasurer of Astra Lodge and has filled that position for a total of 8 years.
MEC Knight sought more light in masonry by being advanced as a Mark Master Mason, received as a Most Excellent Master and in April 2005 was exalted as a Royal Arch Mason in Cold Lake Chapter No. 39. He again progressed through the various offices and sat as the 1st Principle in the years 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2019. In 2012 Jeff was appointed as the Grand Sword Bearer of the Grand Lodge of Alberta and in May 2015 he was installed as the Grand District Superintendent of District No. 2. In 2017 he was appointed by the Grand 1st Principal to the Executive Committee of Grand Chapter, and in May 2019 he was elected and installed as the Grand 3rd Principal, a position he performed for two years. In 2021 Jeff was the Grand 2nd Principal and in 2022 was elected as the Grand 1st Principal of the Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons of Alberta
Jeff has received the Past Masters (Virtual) Degree and has been anointed, consecrated and set apart in the Holy Order of the High Priesthood.
MEC Knight completed the Chivalric Degrees in April 2008, being solemnly received and proclaimed a Knight of the Order of the Temple in Edmonton Preceptory No.46, Knights Templar.
MEC Knight completed the Cryptic Rite Degrees at Zohar Council No.4 in Edmonton and has received the Royal Arc Mariner Degree under the direction of Edmonton Chapter No. 2.

My visit to the Grand Chapter Convocation of Saskatchewan in Moose Jaw.
MEC James Carswell and I drove to Moose Jaw Thursday May 23rd as the Grand Convocation started on Friday as per attachment to follow.
We were treated royally by all the Grand Chapter Officers of Saskatchewan.
We were invited to the G1Ps MEC Troy Leblanc’s Hospitality room Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
They have their formal banquet on the Friday night unlike ours which is on Saturday after the Installation and Investiture of Officers.
The banquet was held at the historic Grant Hall Hotel in downtown Moose Jaw. At the banquet we sat with the Grand H REC Dan Olmsted and his wife, the Grand Principal Sojourner VEC Nathan Reeves and his lady as REC Olmsted was MC for the evening.
Wednesday June 5th, attended the REC Bernard’s Official Visit to his mother Chapter – Golden West Chapter No. 5 in High River.
Comp. Erwin Virtusio – the Representative for the Youth Endowment brought his report to the Chapter and was well received. 
MEC James Carswell was presented with his Past Grand First Principal’s Certificate (framed).
Visitation to the Order of the Eastern Star’s Annual Grand Session
On Friday June 7th, I attended at the invitation of the Worthy Grand Matron , Jacquie
Charlton and Worthy Grand Patron Wayne Rinke, the Annual Grand Session of the
Order of Eastern Stars held at Olds Alberta. I brought Greetings and Salutations on
behalf of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Alberta.
The event was well organized and executed. Most impressive was the vast sums of
money the OES donated to various worthy causes some cheques were greater than
$74,000 and many cheques handed out to many worthy recipients.
I travelled there with MEC Norm Downs and REC Allan Long who also represented the
Scottish Rite and therefore brought greetings on behalf of the Scottish Rite. Of course
the Grand Master – MW. Bro. Kyle Scott was present and brought greetings and
information about the Grand Lodge of Alberta.
We were all well received by the OES – an Order of which I did not know much about
until last night. These ladies and men are great fund raisers and are a large and
successful diverse group. I noticed many Brother Masons and Royal Arch Masons who
are also involved as members or Officers of the OES.
Grand Lodge Annual Communication
June 14 to 15, 2024
This picture is of MW. Bro. Kyle Scott honouring and thanking all of his Officers for a job
well done. He presented each with an engraved metal flask as a token of appreciation.
The Friday night banquet at which all the heads of concordant bodies were invited to
attend the banquet which was outstanding as the food was stellar and the camaraderie
was second to none!
Sadly I could not get pictures of myself with the Grand Masters incoming or outgoing as
it was a busy time for both of these Brethren. The Grand Communication was well
attended and I was most pleased to meet and greet many Companions of the Grand
Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Alberta who attended the business and social
opportunities at this Grand Communication.
Official Visit to Mt. Olivet Chapter in Camrose on Wednesday, June 19th.
I made my Official Visit to Mt. Olivet Chapter and was warmly received by the 1st
Principal and Companions this evening. I was accompanied by REC Robert Coxen, &
VEC Don Anderson who brought his lovely wife Linda to accompany my wife Jenny
during the Festive Board and to socialize with her while I was in the meeting. The
meeting went very well as the Officers performed our Ritual with precision.
The Festive Board was a BBQ of hamburgers and hotdogs- it was delicious and best of
all it was free ! The meeting included a very special Masonic Education prepared and
Executed by VEC Don Anderson comprised of a skit or play along the theme of the
MMM Degree called “The Peculiar Stone”. It is designed to inform non Capitular
Masons what Royal Arch Masonry is about. I even had a non speaking part in the skit
where I portrayed MEKS!
All in all, it was a wonderful and enjoyable evening for both myself and Jenny.
June 20- Official Visit to Hangingstone Chapter in Ft. McMurray
This active Chapter meets at the Ft. McMurray Senior Citizen Centre where I was
brought in in form and accompanied by MEC Wally Watt and REC Brad Edstrom. Prior
to the meeting, the Festive Board was held at the downtown location of Boston Pizza
where the food was outstanding this evening. EC Jason Hordichuk welcomed me and
MEC Wally Watt and REC Brad Edstrom into the Chapter where a full slate of officers
and members were in attendance. An Installation of Officers was done very efficiently
with REC Mike McLean as Installing Z
Newly installed 3rd Principal- EC. Dave McDonald presented Education on how people
or Companions in general learn or commit to memory important lessons. The
presentation was outstanding and best of all was the number of questions as a result of
the presentation…the discussion was exceptional!
Just before closing the Chapter, EC Jason Hordichuk presented me with a wooden
gavel and block including a case, crafted by non-other than MEC Wally Watt on behalf
of the Officers and Companions of Hangingstone Chapter No. 40. All in all, an excellent
evening was had at Hangingstone Chapter!
Official Visit to Cold Lake Chapter No. 39
June 24. 2024
I, made my Official Visit to Cold Lake Chapter No. 39. Where the
Companions met me at the local Pub and Restaurant – Original Joes Restaurant and
Bar. There we had a fabulous fish and chips dinner and watched about 1/3 of the
Stanley Cup game (7)…sadly, the Oilers lost the game albeit a fantastic effort by the
Edmonton Oilers to make it to game (7)…they did Canada proud!
After dinner we went to Cold Lake Masonic Hall where I was brought in in form with
MEC Jeff Knight and VEC Don Anderson accompanied me into the Chapter. The 1st
Principal – Ex. Comp. Sebastian Cross and the few Officers present was welcoming and
friendly but sadly only (9) Companions were present. REC Brad Edstrom came down
from Ft. McMurray to accompany me but was put to work as 3rd Principal – Joshua.
Thank you REC sir! This was my last stop as I have been on the road for (6) days with
my journey starting in Camrose then Ft. McMurray and finally Cold Lake!
I believe this Chapter needs support. Perhaps an infusion of spirited young blood to
attract younger people to join this wonderful Royal Arch Chapter…it has great potential!.
Cold Lake is a beautiful city with much to offer for young families…someone needs to
step up and spearhead a project to make Masonry more visible. Just a thought!
My Official Visit to Hillvue Chapter No. 15. at Frank, Alberta
I was honoured to have REC Bernard Uy, VEC David Hochman. VEC Glen Springsteel,
REC Garry Hodge, REC Gerry Waldern and REC Lawrence Anderson as happy visitors
accompanying me this day.
Since there are only (13) members in this Chapter and a number of their Companions
were absent due to work commitments thusly, REC Lawrence Anderson filled in as
acting Principal Sojourner. The meeting was well run but lacked a planned Education
which made the meeting short and administrative. Hillvue Chapter is famous for their
Festive Board which was held after the meeting. It was excellent, fun and engaging and
as a bonus was free for everyone.
This Chapter is in dire need of new members as many of the active members are being
recycled over and over. This Chapter’s numbers are extremely small with those who are
active and keeping the Chapter alive enthusiastic, but would certainly welcome new
members to take over the reins.
As time moves on, I believe that if they don’t get new younger members to bolster the
membership this Chapter may be forced to make difficult decisions. This Chapter has
been a beacon of light in Capitular Masonry for many years and deserves our support.
If Companions throughout Alberta know of Masons who are in the area, please reach
out to them and inform them of this great Chapter. Pincher Creek is only 30 minutes
away and it would seem more than likely that there are men there and in the area that
could be candidates to join in Frank. Frank is located in a beautiful area of Alberta with
much history to reflect upon. Please give this appeal some serious thought and make
the effort to assist our Companions in Hillvue Chapter.
Official visit to Calgary Daylight Chapter No. 43 UD
July 17, 2024
I made my Official Visit and since I am the 3rd
Principal of this upcoming Chapter, REC Richard Sellers acted as 3rd Principal while I
was making my Official Visit. There was terrific attendance by members and only (1)
visitor. MEC Jerry Kopp presented education on the topic of, Confusion in the Ritual.
The meeting went by quickly and efficiently but as the afternoon temperature rose
beyond 27C the G1P and the Principals agreed on removing jackets and ties to allow
everyone to remain as comfortable as possible.
The Festive Board was planned ahead of time, prepared by our own members
consisting of soup and sandwiches plus dessert to be held at Bowmont Hall. This
decision was to made to save time as I am the guest of honour and I had to help plan
the Festive Board with VEC David Hochman. It was decided to have everyone make
donations to the Youth Endowment Fund in lieu of charging a fee for lunch.
The (3) Principal Officers and MEC James Carswell arranged to cover the costs for the
lunch and therefore all proceeds from lunch revenues were made available for the
YEF. A special thanks to MECs Don Gillies and James Carswell for donating the dessert
comprising of pies, cookies, muffins, a variety of trays of mixed fruits and ice cream.
Needless to say, there were leftovers which many Companions gladly took home.
The Companions of CDC – UD were well prepared and received the Grand First
Principal in form thus making this Official Visit another pleasant experience for myself
and everyone in attendance.
August 27, 2024
Official Visit To Otuskwan Chapter No. 9
This is a casual Western event thankfully as it’s always nice not to wear tuxedos.
The Companions of Otuskwan went all out and served BBQed Brisket with all the trimmings plus dessert.
It was an outstanding evening of wonderful camaraderie among Masons.
I was overjoyed with the support afforded to me be many Grand Chapter Officers as there were (8) PG1Ps, (2) GDSs, GSE, G2P, GDofC, GTyler, GPS & (3) Members of the Grand Executive Committee. The total attendance was (38).
The evening started with a scrumptious BBQ Brisket meal then the meeting started on time at, 7:30 pm a brief business of the Chapter ensued, with ballot on one new candidate, then an examination of (3) RAMs and Education by VEC Jim Wilson on the meaning of the various Royal Arch symbolisms.
It was a wonderful evening by the Companions of Otuskwan Chapter who obviously planned ahead of time to receive the G1P. Well done Companions of Otuskwan Chapter!
September 7, 2024
The Annual Field Day in Dalum, Alberta
is one of the premier Capitular Masonry events of the year. It hosted by (2) Chapters-Eheyeh Chapter No. 27 and Strathmore Chapter No. 21.
I was accompanied by REC Grant Molyneux to the event and arrived at, 9:30 am just in time to enjoy breakfast which was including lunch with $25 fee.
The Chapter was opened in the RA Degree at, 10:00 am. The weather was expected to be hot and sunny.
It was a sunny 30 C by midday but the meeting was held indoors this time which was a good thing as the Air Conditioning was stellar and made it very comfortable for everyone.
The MMM Degree was conferred by Eheyeh Chapter No. 27 on (4) candidates- Bros. Curtis Solda, Jeremy Goetz, Jeff Varta & Tom Kennedy. Starting at, 10:00 am and finished at shortly after 12 noon after which a lunch break was had until 1:30 pm when the meeting red in the MEM Degree performed by the members of Strathmore Chapter No. 21 and the work was magnificently executed on the same (4) candidates that had received the MMM in the morning.
The MEM Degree ended at approximately 2:40 pm and the Lodge of MEM closed in peace and harmony.
This event is spectacular and should not be missed.
It well organized and both Eheyeh Chapter and Strathmore Chapters are to be commended for the excellent efforts.
All in all a superb day was enjoyed by many.
Sept. 11 – Accompanied GDS – REC Bernard Uy to Shekinah Chapter No. 4
where he was received in Form and had a substantial entourage of past G1Ps and past GDS in attendance.
Ex. Comp. 3rd Principal – Bob Hammel put on a Festive Board in honour of GDS OV to Shekinah, it was a well attended.
The Chapter balloted on (2) Affiliations and (4) new members.
VEC Jerry Waldern ran an efficient meeting and reminded everyone of the upcoming joint meeting with Hillvue Chapter on the Saturday 28th of September.
The members of Shekinah enjoyed a successful OV by the GDS and the evening was most enjoyable!
Grand Chapter of BC & Yukon
Sept 20-21, 2024
The newly Installed G1P of BC & Yukon – MEC – Alphonse Quenneville
Sept. 26- Made my OV to Capital City Chapter No. 13 at Highland Masonic Hall.
Was received in Form and accompanied by numerous well known Companions- MECs Wally Watt & Leif Hansen, RECs Tom Bremner, Bob Lemmens, Brian Hall, Peter Roger, Bob Cantwell, Kurtis Frederick, Jack Drebit, VEC Don Anderson were my entourage.
Business was conducted under the direction of REC. Glenn White very efficiently and closed in the RA Degree.
Then, the MEM Degree was conferred on (9) candidates, Arnel Castillejo, Christian Catipay, Erwin Cheng, Aries Fabian, Andrew Lonegren, and Reynaldo Reyes.
In addition from Edson Chapter, Brothers Ian Tarves, Joe Spivak, and Joseph Kubelka as Most Excellent Masters.
Under the leadership of Ex. Comp. Perry White who recited the Work by memory and the Obligation by REC Glenn White.
The prayers were also recited by memory by none other than REC Will Leano!
Very impressive Degree work by the Officers and Degree team.
The Lodge of MEMs closed in peace and harmony then, pictures were taken under the keen eye of VEC Don Anderson.
A wonderful Festive Board held after the meeting – Free!
That’s right the Chapter did not charge for Festive Board! We could learn from this Chapter on how to manage free food for all in attendance.
Thank you Capital City Chapter! You made my visit extra special!
Sept. 28 – was invited to attend the Annual Meeting of District (1) by REC Tom Bremner
held at,
Meridian Lodge Hall in Stony Plain.
Registration started at, 10:00 am and REC Bob Lemmens gave Education on, The History and Meaning of Boaz and Jachin. The presentation was exceptional, well researched as Bob Lemmens had props to make the presentation more engaging and interesting. Then, at noon lunch break with soup and sandwiches. After lunch, we moved into the meeting room and the Annual District (1) Meeting commenced under the skilful direction of REC Tom Bremner. A memorial service where I was asked to lay a rose in memory of of those Companions whom had passed to the GCA in sister Jurisdictions- it was on honour to have been asked to do that.
Later in the meeting I was invited to present the jewel and regalia of a PGDS to REC Tony Taylor. At the end the meeting I thanked REC Tom Bremner and the members of District (1) for inviting me to their annual meeting as it was pleasure to be among such a fine group of Companions!
October 5 – District (2) Annual Meeting.
All three Principal Officers of the Grand Chapter along with the Grand Historian- VEC Don Anderson and MEC James Carswell were present at this District Meeting. The meeting was well organized and executed by REC Robert Coxen. A Memorial Service was held in memory of Companions of the various Chapters and after the flowers from the Memorial Service was gifted to my dear wife Jenny. The meeting was preceded by a beautiful lunch which VEC David Roth prepared. The cost for lunch was by donating to the YEF.
Meeting concluded by 2:30 pm. A big congratulations to REC Robert Coxen for a well run meeting. Also, congratulations to EC. Peter Wetmore for being elected by acclamation for GDS Elect of District No. 2 further, congratulations to REC Patrick Clark for successfully completing his term as GDS of District No. 2.
Oct 9, 2024 – Made my Official Visit to Shekinah Chapter No. 4 this day.
I was accompanied by MECs Erik Weigelt, James Carswell, REC. Kurtis Frederick, REC. Bernard Uy and VEC David Hochman.
VEC Jerry Waldern as 1st Principal received me in Form and proceeded to do the business of the Chapter which included balloting on (4) new candidates – a good sign of Chapter growth
The evening began with the Festive Board to honour the G1Ps Official Visit to Shekinah Chapter No. 4 and featured roast turkey with all the traditional trimmings & dessert.
It was a wonderful evening of great fellowship.
Oct. 24- Mountain View Chapter No. 42’s Official Visit.
The 1st Principal – EC. Dale Hinz received the G1P in form into the Chapter. My accompanying entourage were, MEC Don Russell, David Boone, Duncan Strachan & James Carswell, Lief Hansen, REC Kurtis Frederick, Robert Cantwell, Peter Roger.
There were (2) Educational presentations by EC Dale Hinz was on, Moses Aholiab and Besaliel and REC Allan Long in several differences in interpretation on where or not the Israelites crossed the Red Sea or the Sea of Reeds, also the difference between the Three Fold Signs in the Canadian Rite and the FC Signs in the Ancient York Rite and several other different Masonic rituals…I cannot recall or did not hear well.
The meeting and Festive Board was most enjoyable and fellowship exceptional.
Sadly, (2) prominent members requested Demits from Mountain View Chapter- REC Lawrence Anderson & Robert Cantwell.
My hope is that the younger members step up and fill the huge gaps left by these (2) Demits and that this Chapter continues to thrive within District (3) which is a very strong District.
November 20 – Official Visit to Wapiti Chapter No. 34 in Grande Prairie.
REC. Tony Taylor picked me up from the hotel and drove me to the Masonic Hall where we waited for EC. Bob Buchan who had keys to open the Hall.
The 1st Principal received me in Form into the Chapter.
After conducting business the First Principal asked me to Close the Chapter in short form.
As the attendance was hampered by bad weather and terrible road conditions only MEC David Grange accompanied into the Chapter.
Then an MEM Degree was conferred on Bro. Jared Funk.
The Degree was read by the Degree team which made it go through quickly.
After the Degree I volunteered to show the members of Wapiti Chapter how to give Grand Honours as Education; the Grand Honours given to me was one for the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge.
The Lodge of MEM was Closed and all proceeded to go downstairs for the Festive Board.
REC Tony Taylor then drove me back to my hotel after what was a most enjoyable evening with the Brn. & Comps. Of Wapiti Chapter No. 34
November 25- Made my OV to Norwood Chapter No. 18 which meets at Acacia Masonic Hall.
As this Chapter only meets (4) times a year they have their Festive Board at a different Restaurant for each their meetings.
Tonight they chose to have it at, Chianti’s on Whyte Avenue which is a short distance from Acacia Hall and the food was outstanding.
The 1st Principal- Murray Milavsky received me in Form into the Chapter and my accompanying entourage comprised of, MEC Wally Watt & VEC James Hunt. I brought greetings and regrets on behalf of MEC James Carswell and REC Robert Coxen.
They conducted business and Balloted on an Affiliate from Stony Chapter Ex. Comp. Michael Mott and (2) candidates for Exaltation which I cannot recall their names.
The Chapter was called off for an indefinite period of time to Exemplify a Degree acquired from a Masonic Database in Holland called, Knight of Scandinavia, Memphis-Mizraim 34 which was very mystical in nature and I was asked to be the candidate.
The Degree exemplified evoked much discussion among the members and visiting Companions.
EC. Murray Milavsky ran an efficient meeting and the members and visitors were very aware of the kind discussions to do with their Education presentation this evening.
A very interesting and entertaining evening at Norwood Chapter.
Jan 13 – Official Visit by the G1P to Alberta Chapter No. 1.
The Chapter was prepared and executed a fantastic evening in honour of my visit to my mother Chapter this evening. A fabulous Festive Board kicked off the evening then, I was accompanied a nice entourage of Grand Chapter Officers which included MECs, Don Gillies, Jerry Kopp, Norm Downs, Keng Wei Chiew, James Carswell, RECs Bernard Uy, Peter Roger, Wade Hunt, VEC Mark Mueller, Daryl Holien.
The evening included Masonic Education by Comp. Chris Webber and presentation of Past First Principal’s jewel to EC. Gordon Bristow. EC Tom Plant carried a very efficient meeting and closed the Chapter by asking the G1P to attend to the Pedestal and REC delivered the Closing Charge then pictures were taken under the direction of MEC Jerry Kopp.

Jan. 23 – Attended the Installation of Officers at Capital City Chapter No. 13.
My travelling Companions were, MEC Jerry Kopp and VEC Mark Mueller.
The meeting started at, 7:30 pm with REC Glenn White as 1st Principal, business was conducted before the Installation of Officers.
Installing Z was REC Neil White and the ceremony was performed beautifully by memory.

It was a wonderful Installation and Festive Board was equally amazing as the newly installed Third Principal asked me to reply to the toast tho the G1P and his Officers.
2025 Chinese New Year
A Feast of Good Fortune
Feb 1 – A Feast of Good Fortune-Celebrating the arrival of of Spring and Lunar Chinese New Years celebrations!
The event was spectacular evening of scrumptious food, dazzling entertainment, fabulous execution of an event that was completely sold out.
Even so, to the credit of the restaurant and staff at, Regency Palace Restaurant the food and service was wonderful.
MEC Keng Wei Chiew deserves all the accolades for putting on a magical event.
There we door prizes, draws for more prizes, a huge 50/50 raffle which generated over $3400 in ticket revenues of which half of that figure goes directly to the Youth Endowment Fund.
The attendance surpassed the number from the previous event of 2023.
Credit due to the enthusiastic ticket sellers and the persistence of MEC Keng Wei Chiew following up on ticket sales.
Even dignitaries from the City of Calgary and the Provincial Government were in awe of this magnificent event!
The G1P brought greetings from the Grand Chapter of RAMs of Alberta and welcomed all in attendance followed by MW. Bro. Will Leano’s greetings from the Grand Lodge of Alberta and acknowledged all Past Grand Masters, Grand Lodge Officials & Royal Arch Masons in attendance.
Then, the Greetings were brought from City Councillor/Deputy Mayor- Andre Chabot & Ric McIvor – Municipal Affairs Minister for Alberta.
The event went ahead beautifully except with the faulty microphone system. Otherwise, it was an evening to remember for a very long time!

The Royal Arch Masons of Alberta celebrated its biennial Chinese New Year event on
February 1 st at the Regency Palace Restaurant, Calgary. Over 600 guests and
performers attended the event, which was vibrant with excitement from performances
and fellowship. The evening featured a packed medley of cultural entertainment, and
the guests enjoyed a traditional 10-course Chinese dinner paired with wine. Each guest
also left with a prosperity Red Packet and a personal gift, while the ladies received a red
rose as a token of appreciation for their presence at the event.
The evening began with a welcome remark by MEC Jaime Wong, the Grand First
Principal, followed by MWB Will Leano, the Grand Master, Mr. Andre Chabot, the
Deputy Mayor, and Hon. Ric McIver, the Minister of Municipal Affairs, who all brought
greetings from their respective organizations.
The organizing committee would like to thank the Masons, their families, and their
friends for their overwhelming support for this event.

Daylight Chapter #43 UD
Feb. 6 – Strathmore No. 21 / Eheyeh No. 27 Joint Installation in Drumheller.
Festive Board at, 6:30 pm featuring a scrumptious cabbage roll supper and dessert then the meeting and Installation of both Chapters.
Attendance was (35) Companions present.
The Installing 1st Principal was MEC Jerry Kopp and the work was mostly read with the exception of REC Richard Sellers who invested the Veilsmen and REC Wade Hunt who invested the IPZ.
Eheyeh Chapter Opened the meeting and Strathmore Chapter Closed the meeting with the G1P attending to the Pedestal after REC Allan Long delivered the Closing Charge.
Kudos to the Companions of Eheyeh Chapter for improving their Opening Ritual work and I encourage them to keep it up.
The camaraderie and fellowship was excellent !
March 5 – OV to Golden West Chapter No. 5.
Festive Board before the meeting was excellent and the food was delicious plus the 3rd Principal ordered a beautiful cake in honour of the OV by the G1P.
Then, the meeting opened at, 7:30 pm with the G1P was brought in Form accompanied by MECs Don Gillies & James Carswell, VEC Doug Wade and REC Larry Watson who is a member of the of the Grand Executive Committee plus REC Bernard Uy the District (4) GDS who was acknowledged at the end of the meeting.
The meeting closed at 8:40 pm and all Companions were invited to the Education presented by REC Garry Bonnell on why our Chapter isn’t able to attract younger members-discussion ensued and a variety of of opinions were expressed by many. All in all an excellent meeting!
March 15 – OV to Lebanon Chapter No. 38 in Lacombe.
My entourage consisted of, MEC Jerry Kopp, MEC James Carswell, RECs Kurtis Frederick, Brad Edstrom, VECs Mark Mueller, Don Anderson, REC Wade Hunt and MEC Leif Hansen. I was received in Form and VEC Don Anderson carried a very good business meeting which included the Companions present thoughts on Visitation and what it meant to them. Also, REC Kurtis Frederick presented a very insightful presentation on Technology and how Masonry has embraced it to make their meetings more productive and efficient. Also, a Companion from Otuskwan No. 9 applied for affiliation before the meeting. The meeting ended just before noon hour and the Companions retired downstairs to partake in the Festive Board. It was a very enjoyable OV to Lebanon Chapter and I hope to visit this Chapter again.
April 5 – Re-Consecration of Eheyeh Chapter No. 27
I arrived to Drumheller Masonic Hall at 11:30 am and met VEC Doug Wade coming out. He asked me to deliver to Mrs. Michelle Durnie (2) packages at the which I did.
Mrs. Michelle Durnie hosted a lunch for ladies at the Badlands Community Facility (BCF) while the Companions of Eheyeh Chapter no. 27, visitors and Grand Chapter Officers met at Masonic Hall.
The Chapter Tyled at 1:00 pm and the G1P was brought in in Form with entourage consisting of, MECs David Boone, Jerry Kopp, Norm Downs, Keng Wei Chiew & James Carswell, RECs Kurtis Frederick, Brad Edstrom,Robert Cantwell, Peter Roger, Wade Hunt, VECs Terry Murray, Doug Wade, Don Anderson, Gordon Morck, Wayne Parry and REC Larry Watson who was sitting on the side line.
The Chapter Opened and immediately the Ceremony of Re-Consecration was put on by Mainly Grand Chapter Officers with the exception of the Opening prayer which performed by Ex. Comp. Paul Caples.
I must congratulate and thank all Grand Chapter Officers for executing a very successful Re-Consecration Ceremony and a special thanks to VEC Terry Murray for ensuring that the necessary articles to the Re-Consecration Ceremony were present and forming the procession according to plan.
In the end it was beautifully executed and the Companions of Eheyeh Chapter were Rededicated for the next (100) years of Capitular Masonry.
Congratulations to Eheyeh Chapter No. 27 for hosting a very successful and enjoyable Centennial celebration.
One thing that stood out amid all the excitement and joy of this event was that VEC Doug Wade has been First Principal of his beloved Chapter (13) times! I cannot recall anyone in Masonry being WM of his Lodge or First Principal of his Chapter that many times!
It demonstrates desire, character and dedication of one man to keep his Chapter successful.
