Greeting Companions,

Here we are at the end of January and February well at hand. I hope you enjoyed your New Year's celebration and had an opportunity to partake in some Robbie Burns festivities. January was the month of installations in which I was able to participate in six installations involving nine chapters.
  • January 6 attended the installation of Golden West Chapter # 5, High River. R. Ex. Comp. Vic Ramsbottom was the installing Z who completed his duties and left immediately the next morning for New Zealand.
  • January 8, attended Calgary Chapter # 11 and Crescent Chapter # 24  joint installation at Bowmont Hall, Calgary. R. Ex. comp. Lawrence Anderson was installing Z.
  • January 13, attended the joint installation of Strathmore Chapter # 21 and Eheyeh Chapter # 27 in Strathmore. V. Ex. Comp. Harold Anderson was installing Z.
  • January 25, attended the installation of Otuskwan Chapter # 9. A Robbie Burns dinner was held after the installation with everyone enjoying their meal of Haggis.
  • The installation was conducted by R. Ex. Comp. Bob McDougall.
  • January 26 was an official visit to Assiniboia Chapter # 3 (see pic). The visit took place in Bassano to coincide with the joint installation with Harmony Chapter # 26 (see pic). R. Ex. Comp. Bob McDougall was once again the installing Z.
  • January 27, attended the installation of Capital City Chapter # 13 at Highlands Hall, Edmonton. R. Ex. Comp.Brian Hall was the installing Z.
I have now completed my official visits to all the Chapters in Alberta. This has been a wonderful experience for both my wife, Diane and I. The Companions of Alberta have made our travels very enjoyable and I wish to thank all of you for this experience.

I will be attending the following actives in February.
  • Otuskwan Church Parade, February 6, Balzac United Church, 9:30 AM
  • Grand Executive Committee Meeting, Red Deer Masonic Temple, February 12.
  • District # 3 Workshop at Strathmore Masonic Lodge, February 26 starting at 12:00 PM.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the George Washington Convocation in Conrad, Montana on February 18 and 19. R. Ex. Comp. David Hongisto will be attending and will bring the greetings of the Grand Chapter of Alberta.

Companions, I am looking forward to seeing you in our travels. Remember to book your reservations for Camrose as the Norseman Hotel for the Grand Convocation on May 13 and 14.

Fraternally yours,

M.E.C. Don Gillies
Grand First Principal
